In 2011, we mashed up the music of Drake and James Blake. It started as a joke, though our approach was anything but. Rather than slapping acapellas over instrumentals, their sounds were blown apart and reconstructed into something new. Still, we only shared it with friends and the results entertained us enough. Never did we expect the response the project received. Esteemed publications and music fans all over the world picked up on the mixtape and, unexpectedly, showered it with praise. We’d accidentally gone viral. For years the James Drake mixtape was unavailable online. Now, to mark its 10 year anniversary, it’s back for streaming and download. Many thanks to all those who listened, wrote, and shared kind words over the years. We hope this re-release entertains you as much as it entertained us a decade ago alone in our Philly apartments, never once imagining these sounds would reach your ears.
